About Formula Student
Formula Student is the Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition. The format of the event is such that it provides an ideal opportunity for hundreds of students to test, demonstrate and improve their capabilities to deliver a complex and integrated product in the demanding environment of a motorsport competition.
Backed by industry and high-profile engineers such Patron, Ross Brawn OBE and companies such Bosch, Land Rover, Mercedes Benz or Jaguar, the competition aims to develop enterprising and innovative young engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering. The project usually forms part of a degree-level project and is viewed by the motorsport industry as the standard for engineering graduates to meet, transitioning them from university to the workplace. It is a kite-mark for real-world engineering experience since 30 years ago.
A long the season, the students should work under pressure, planning and controlling the expenses which involve creating a single seat racing car. In this war, the competition’s main goal is to simulate a real scenario where the young engineers are evaluated at both, technical and theoretic levels.
UJIMotorsport was born at the end of 2015 thanks to the initiative of some team members. All of them Mechanical Engineering Degree students from the Jaime I University. After following the competition for years, they decided to ask to the Professors of heir college for setting up a Formula Student Team and representing the university around the world.
Since their first year, the teams doesn’t stop to grow up. In its first season, the team went to Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and in the last season UJIMotorsport joint to an European competition in Euro-Ring (Hungary).
Beyond the competitions, the team little by little has been fighting for its own place as an innovation project in the university community and in the local community attending meetings, conferences…
